‘Boluomi’ is a famous fruit everyone appreciates in Malaysia. But it is also YiFan's father’s name, Boluomi, whom past history remains unknown to all, and with whom YiFan’s relation remains nonexistent. Unbeknownst to YiFan, some hidden secrets from a bygone era seem to taint their father son relation and poisons everything around. Besides, like many in his generation, YiFan is forced to flee Malaysia because of the unequal right to education due to racial discrimination. His journey drives him overseas, Taiwan.

In Taipei, YiFan succeeds in making a living and meets with a Filipino illegal worker, Laila. Both strangers to this city, they have no language in common to speak, but they do share the same sense of nostalgia and homesickness, and eventually fall in love with each other.
