8th Singapore Chinese Film Festival (SCFF2020)
The Singapore Film Society (SFS) and Centre for Chinese Studies@Singapore University of Social Sciences (CCS@SUSS) are delighted to announce that the 8th Singapore Chinese Film Festival (SCFF2020) will be held from 2 - 11 October.
Opening and Closing Films
This year’s Opening Film Changfeng Town is directed by Chinese director Wang Jing, and co-produced by Singaporean filmmaker Tay Bee Pin. It is a rite-of-passage drama set in an imagined version of a small Chinese town, and tells of life from the points of view of the children, during the course of a summer, as various intersected stories unfold. This film will be available both online and in-cinema.
The Closing Film Suk Suk won Best Film, and Best Actor at the 26th Hong Kong Film Critics Society Awards. It is a quiet portrayal of a gay relationship between two men in their twilight years. Suk Suk examines the subtle day-to-day moments of the two men as they struggle between conventional morals and their personal desires.
